Quite often we don’t want to change unless we have that real drive, that real desire to want to make change in our life.

This drive can come from being in an immense amount of pain.

This can also be because we want to better our lives in a positive way, we are inspired by others and we want to uplift ourselves, we want to make that change for ourselves.

Or we’re can just get completely sick and tired of having the same old results day in and day out, we’re just so tired of it, that we want to make the changes for ourselves.

From my personal experience, and what I’ve seen in business and with my clients, change only happens when you really want that change, when you really desire that change.

What I’ve also seen happen is we can often be influenced to change by others, this can be because we are trying to impress them, or they want us to change for them,  initially we might do this however what often happens is that your body and your psyche wants to actually revert back to homeostasis.

Drop back into the equilibrium that you’re always used to, this is because resistance comes up, and because your desire to change is not your own you’ll want to go back to old ways or old habits.

In my experience what I’ve seen with people who do this, the change is often short lived, the novelty wears off, and they want to go back to that equilibrium for themselves, back to comfort.

When you really have that internal desire to want to change, to better yourself, or because you’re just so sick and tired of being where you’re at, you’re in so much pain that you really want to shift, that’s when the true change comes. That’s when we see the big shifts.

That’s when we’re willing to do what it takes to change the outcomes. We become so sick and tired of getting the same results so we decide we want to change to get a different result.

This internal desire makes us willing to put in the time and effort to make sustainable change for ourselves, however whenever we’re pushed to make change that’s not coming from within we resist, it’s not our desire.

When others try to push us to change we have a tendency to push back and say, no, that’s not what I want. I’m not doing this.

We can see this happen in business where management try to push changes without firstly aligning the change values and putting the right planning in place to benefit everyone.

We will push back on change in a company if it’s not handled, right, because it’s not aligning with our desires and what we want.  As a business owner if not handled correctly, you’ll get pushback from your employees and you’ll find it difficult to move the needle in the direction you want because you’ve got all this resistance because there’s no buy in.

Additionally, when we start to make change, when we make that affirmative decision that we want to change, and we want our life to be different, we want the results to be different in our life, we’re may experience resistance externally to that as well.

Often we can find that others around us may not necessarily like the way that we’re shifting, this can bring up all sorts of triggers in them.  As you shift, you are are becoming different, it’s creating change for them, it’s interrupting their equilibrium, this makes them uncomfortable.

This is something we need to understand may happen when going through change.  If we stay the same, they’re all comfortable, if we remain predictable, they’re all good, however when we make changes and we shift, they’re uncomfortable, they’re not liking the new us because it makes them uncomfortable.

This won’t always happen, on a positive note, what can happen here is that others are inspired to make change and grow with us, they see the positive shifts in us and want to come along for the ride.

Change is kind of like going to the gym and you’re training your muscles for the first time.  You’re lifting the weights for the first time and it’s uncomfortable however as you train you get better your equilibrium changes to a new level, you have a new homeostasis, you get fitter, you change.

As we gradually shift we get to the life that we dream of, the way that we want to be, the desired change comes into reality and we become the person who we desired to be.  What’s exciting is the people and experiences will drop into that new reality when we are ready.

Furthermore, when we are in the transition stages of change it can feel quiet uncomfortable because when we look back we no longer resonate with who we were yet when we look forward we aren’t there yet so we are kind of in a state of limbo, this is where we need to trust and keep going forward with our desired change to achieve our desired outcome.  This can be quite uncomfortable and it can be a lonely place at times I found however stay the course, the fruits of change far outweigh the pain of staying the same.

What is beautiful is when we finally make the lasting changes and get to our desired outcome, all that is meant for us in the new reality drops in, it’s wonderful.

When you embody the changes, your new reality drops in, and everything comes to you that fits that new reality.
