Discernment – “The ability to judge well” Oxford Language.
We must learn discernment in life, this helps guide our decisions, ensuring they are in alignment with our values, beliefs, and goals. We must teach ourselves to become confident enough to know when it’s good to speak up, or not when to take action, and when it’s time to stay quiet and be still.
Learning to read the signs of when someone is ready for your message, or when it will fall on deaf ears, and when to take the required action, or to stay still, requires a high level of discernment.
Discernment comes when we know ourselves and what we want; therefore, we are willing and able to accurately follow through on making decisions based on our values, beliefs, and goals, no matter what.
Discernment must come in every situation, with every person, in every place, to keep us in alignment with what we want. It comes through learning to understand when our gifts should be shared, or when to keep them stored within and when we must take a stand, or fall in line.
It is our inner wisdom, through our ability to just know when to take affirmative action, and when to hold still.
Yet fear can play a tricky game as the illusion to discernment. Fear can trick us into thinking we should make a move when we shouldn’t, or not make a move when we should.
The push and pull between fear and truth is a lesson for us in discernment, which requires radical self-honesty, and good self-judgment. To know when fear is holding us back, or when it’s our inner wisdom speaking to us, discernment is a skill to be mastered.
Only we truly know the truth when we drop deep into the center of our being and ask, what is right at this moment for me, for them, for the greater good? Not a decision out of fear, but out of love. Discernment from a place of truth.
